Loaves and Fishes is a concept that began in the year 2000 as a theme for our annual February food drive to support the Daily Bread Food Bank. Support for this campaign has grown steadily each year. As the bags accumulate through the weeks of February, the front of the church becomes filled and, by the fourth week, bags placed in the aisles cause the choir to process one by one instead of the normal pairs. The latest campaign resulted in 450 bags donated to help needy families in London.

We are grateful for the contributions in the past of recyclable paper bags from the LCBO and our Green Team is even happier that we have moved toward reusable canvas bags in recent years.

It is gratifying to note that in recent years other churches have taken a lead from Saint James and are conducting their own Loaves and Fishes type food drive to support Daily Bread. The need is ongoing.
